Where do I apply for a Thai visa online, and must I send my passport?
Apply only at thaievisa.go.th (the MFA's official domain). Most embassies no longer require the physical passport — upload documents, pay online and receive the e-Visa by email. Processing is typically 3–15 business days depending on the embassy.
Thai e-Visa (thaievisa.go.th) is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official online visa system, open to applicants worldwide. It covers Tourist (TR), Transit (TS) and nearly all Non-Immigrant codes (B, O, O-A, ED, M, R, RS) plus the DTV. Applicants create an account, complete the form, upload documents, pay online and receive an electronic visa by email — most embassies no longer require the physical passport. The system routes each application to the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over the applicant's residence. Caution: use only the thaievisa.go.th domain; look-alike intermediary sites are common.
