What most often causes a treaty benefit claim to be rejected?

The most frequent cause is a mismatch between the income category claimed and what the contract actually describes, for example a claim filed as service income where the substance is a royalty. Other common causes are a residence certificate covering a different tax year from the payment, a payee name that differs from the receiving bank account, and no evidence that the recipient is the beneficial owner.
