Can a document from the Ministry of Justice replace a court record?
No. Ministry departments and the courts issue different instruments for different purposes, and receiving authorities usually name the exact document they require. Substituting a similar-looking certificate is a common cause of rejection. Ask the recipient to identify the issuing body as well as the document title before ordering copies.
What if the court refuses the translation?
We obtain the stated defect from the officer or the court order, correct it — missing passages, certificate wording, or layout — and deliver a revised bundle in time for the next filing round.
Do foreign-language documents filed with Thai courts need a translation?
Yes. A Thai translation must accompany the original under the court's filing rules, and the translator certifies its accuracy. In some matters the court may ask the translator to confirm the certification or take an oath.
How does legal translation differ from general translation?
Legal work preserves sentence structure, statutory references, case numbers, dates and terms of art exactly as in the source. Fluent rewriting that shifts meaning is unacceptable. Is a Thai custody order automatically effective abroad?
Not necessarily. Recognition of a foreign court order is governed by the destination country's own law. Ask a lawyer or the relevant authority in the destination country which form they need, then assemble the bundle accordingly. Assembling the wrong bundle means repeating the whole legalisation chain.
What are the rules for court interpreters?
Use of an interpreter in proceedings follows procedural law and the court's own rules; the court permits the appointment and may require the interpreter to be sworn. How is an affidavit prepared for a foreign court?
