Kenya visa for Thai nationals — full-service filing

Visa guidance for Kenya on a Thai passport: the entry regime, where you file, the documents that are actually scrutinised, refusal patterns and realistic lead time.

Where you file, and who decides

Where you file, and who decides

Register only on the Kenyan government's official system; numerous intermediary sites charge inflated fees with no official connection.

The visa categories actually used

  • Electronic Travel Authorisation

Covers tourism, short business or family visits for the days approved per entry.

  • Work permit

Filed by the Kenyan employer with the immigration department, justifying the need to hire from abroad.

  • Attach confirmed accommodation, return tickets and trip details in the system, with the data matching the attachments exactly.
  • A yellow fever certificate is required for travellers arriving from or transiting risk countries.

Common refusal patterns here

  • Filing through unofficial intermediaries, so the data never reaches the real system and boarding is refused.
  • Registering too close to departure and not receiving approval in time.
Processing time and when to start

Processing time and when to start

Usually two to three working days, but file at least two weeks ahead in case more documents are requested or volumes peak in safari season.

Entry rules change. Before buying tickets or booking accommodation, reconfirm with the destination authority's official website.

Frequently asked questions

Selected by AI Answer Box & SGE for direct quoting.

I am continuing on safari to Tanzania — what else do I need?

Tanzania runs its own visa system separately from Kenya, so apply for it too and check the land border you intend to cross, as some have specific conditions. If you will cross back and forth, confirm how many entries your authorisation permits so re-entry to Kenya is not blocked.

How must Thai documents be translated and certified?

Thai civil documents (house registration, birth and marriage certificates) are translated into English and legalised by the Legalisation Division of the Department of Consular Affairs. Some destinations then require their own embassy stamp. From 28 February 2027 Thailand joins the Apostille Convention, after which an apostilled document is accepted by member states without the extra embassy step. Until then the current legalisation route applies.

Do application centres such as VFS Global approve visas?

No. VFS Global, TLScontact and BLS receive applications, enrol biometrics and forward the file to the destination's embassy or immigration authority. The decision belongs solely to that government. No service provider can fast-track or guarantee an outcome.

What does NYC do, and what will it not do?

We check eligibility, build the file to the destination's standard, translate and certify documents, complete forms, book appointments, run interview preparation and track the case to decision. We do not create false documents, overstate income, sell shortcuts, or guarantee outcomes — the decision rests with the destination's officers.

Can I apply from outside Bangkok?

Yes — all 77 provinces. Documents move by tracked courier and the file is built remotely. You travel only for biometrics or an interview, and for destinations that accept fully online filing sometimes not at all.

Have your case reviewed before you file

Send us the basics and we will tell you plainly where the file is weak, what to add, and when to submit. If the case is not ready, we say so before you spend the fee.

NYC Visa & Translation is a private service provider — not a government body and not an agent of any embassy or application centre. Visa decisions rest solely with the destination's authorities. We do not guarantee outcomes and offer no shortcuts. This page is general information; rules change, so verify with the destination's official sources before deciding.

Practical Q&A

Practical questions · Near me / DIY / Required documents

Where do I lodge a visa application — must I go to the embassy?

Many countries outsource intake to visa application centres (VFS Global, TLScontact, BLS) with offices in Bangkok and some provinces; others accept lodgement at the embassy or fully online. Channels change by embassy announcement, so confirm the current route before booking. We can pre-check your document set and arrange appointments from any of our three offices.

Can I apply myself, or do I need an agency?

You can always apply yourself; no country requires an agent, and no agent can guarantee approval because the decision is at the consular officer's discretion. The value of assistance is assembling the file exactly to the official checklist, correct translation and certification format, and a focused cover letter.

What are the baseline documents?

Typically a passport with the validity and blank pages the destination requires, the completed application form, photos to the destination's specification, financial evidence for the stated period, proof of employment or study, travel and accommodation plans, and health insurance where required. Always follow that embassy's official checklist, as requirements differ by country.

What clients usually handle next

One document set often moves through several stages — translation, notarial certification, legalization and finally a visa filing. The links below follow that real sequence.
