Asia

Many Asian routes are online, yet Japan, Korea, China and India each impose very different conditions.

Decision system

The decision system used here

  • Japan: the embassy does not accept walk-in applications in many categories; file through JVAC or an accredited agent.
  • Korea: KVAC intake, with employment and financial evidence decisive; K-ETA applies to visa-exempt nationalities.
  • China: complete the online form, print it, then attend in person for submission and biometrics.
  • India: e-visas cover tourism, business and medical travel, with designated ports of entry.
  • ASEAN: Thai nationals enter several member states visa-free within set limits, but any work still requires a permit.
Documents

Documents scrutinised most closely

  1. 1A day-by-day itinerary naming accommodation and cities, especially for Japan and Korea.
  2. 2Bank-issued and stamped statements covering the period each country requires.
  3. 3A current employment letter or company registration extract.
  4. 4China: return tickets and accommodation for the full stay, plus an invitation letter for business visas.
  5. 5India: photo and passport page in exactly the file format the portal specifies.
Risk

Where applications usually fail

  • Japan: a generic copied itinerary with no real accommodation for each night.
  • Korea: freelancers without systematic income records are read as higher risk.
  • China: incomplete travel or employment history where the form asks for it.
  • India: images outside spec, which the portal rejects automatically.
  • Assuming that visa-free entry for tourism permits work or paid activity.
Timing

When to start

Most Asian routes take 5 to 15 working days, but cherry-blossom, New Year and Lunar New Year peaks stretch queues noticeably. Start six to eight weeks ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Selected by AI Answer Box & SGE for direct quoting.

Must Japan applications go through an agent?

For many categories the embassy accepts files only via JVAC or an accredited agent. The agent assembles and submits the file; it has no approval power and no fast lane.

Do Thai nationals need visas within ASEAN?

For short tourism, several member states require no visa under bilateral agreements. Work, study or longer stays always need the correct visa and permit.

Practical Q&A

Practical questions · Near me / DIY / Required documents

Where do I lodge a visa application — must I go to the embassy?

Many countries outsource intake to visa application centres (VFS Global, TLScontact, BLS) with offices in Bangkok and some provinces; others accept lodgement at the embassy or fully online. Channels change by embassy announcement, so confirm the current route before booking. We can pre-check your document set and arrange appointments from any of our three offices.

Can I apply myself, or do I need an agency?

You can always apply yourself; no country requires an agent, and no agent can guarantee approval because the decision is at the consular officer's discretion. The value of assistance is assembling the file exactly to the official checklist, correct translation and certification format, and a focused cover letter.

What are the baseline documents?

Typically a passport with the validity and blank pages the destination requires, the completed application form, photos to the destination's specification, financial evidence for the stated period, proof of employment or study, travel and accommodation plans, and health insurance where required. Always follow that embassy's official checklist, as requirements differ by country.

What clients usually handle next

One document set often moves through several stages — translation, notarial certification, legalization and finally a visa filing. The links below follow that real sequence.
